Preparing for Your First Visit
WHAT TO EXPECT
Initial appointments at Biehle Family Dentistry take around 90 minutes of your time. This allows us sufficient time to perform a thorough evaluation. This includes full mouth X-rays and perio probing to help us understand your current oral health status. We use digital X-rays at our practice for instant, clear images. They also offer much less radiation exposure compared to traditional X-rays.
Once we complete the evaluation portion, your hygienist will perform a prophylaxis, which is a professional teeth cleaning. However, if you need periodontal therapy or deep cleaning to treat gum disease, we will reschedule this for a future appointment.
Your dentist will then show you our overall findings so you are aware of the current status of your oral health. We will also discuss your personal smile goals, providing appropriate recommendations if you need further treatment. Our team will go over all associated costs before proceeding with your treatment plan.
For infants’ and children’s first visits, appointments are more informal. The main purpose of these visits is to give them positive dental experiences. This will help them acclimate to seeing the dentist and the team and encourage healthy dental habits. We will perform a gentle evaluation but will be guided by your child’s comfort level.
